Intermediate Shaft: Inspection

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 1995 Plymouth Voyager, 1995 Dodge Dakota, and 1995 Dodge Caravan. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Inspect bearing journals and bushings for damage. Measure bearing journal diameters and intermediate shaft bushing bore diameters. Determine maximum oil clearance. Replace shaft and/or bushings if measurements are not within specification. See INTERMEDIATE SHAFT SPECIFICATIONS  table.
  2. Using Bushing Remover (C-4697-2 for front bushing and C-4686-1 for rear bushing), replace intermediate shaft bushings if required.
  3. Using Bushing Installer (C-4697-1 for front bushing and C-4686-2 for rear bushing), install bushings until bushing installer is even with cylinder block.
