Test 7F - Short To Battery
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 1995 Dodge Ram Wagon, 1995 Dodge Ram Van, 1995 Dodge Pickup, and 1995 Dodge Cab & Chassis. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
NOTE:
For connector terminal identification, see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION in appropriate TESTS W/CODES
article below. For appropriate wiring diagram, see WIRING DIAGRAMS
section. Perform TEST VER-1 after each repair.
- TESTS W/CODES - 3.9L
- TESTS W/CODES - 5.2L GASOLINE
- TESTS W/CODES - 5.9L GASOLINECAUTION: Always turn ignition switch to OFF position prior to disconnecting or connecting any module connector.
- Using an external ohmmeter, check resistance between Body Control Module (BCM) Blue connector terminals No. 7, CCD BUS positive circuit (Violet/Brown wire), and terminal No. 22, key-in light driver circuit (Yellow/Red wire). If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair Violet/Brown wire shorted to Yellow/Red wire. Perform TEST VER-1.
- If resistance is more than 5 ohms, check resistance between BCM Blue connector terminals No. 20, CCD BUS negative circuit (White/Black wire), and No. 22, key-in light driver circuit (Yellow/Red wire). If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair White/Black wire shorted to Yellow/Red wire. Perform TEST VER-1.
- If resistance is more than 5 ohms, check resistance between BCM Blue connector terminals No. 7, CCD BUS positive circuit (Violet/Brown wire), and No. 23, seat belt light output circuit (Dark Blue/Red wire). If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair Violet/Brown shorted to Dark Blue/Red wire. Perform TEST VER-1.
- If resistance is more than 5 ohms, check resistance between Blue BCM connector terminals No. 20, CCD BUS negative circuit (White/Black wire), and No. 23, seat belt light driver circuit (Dark Blue/Red wire). If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair White/Black shorted to Dark Blue/Red wire. Perform TEST VER-1.
- If resistance is more than 5 ohms, use scan tool in ohmmeter mode to check resistance between BCM case and ground. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair BCM case ground. Perform TEST VER-1.
- If resistance is less than 5 ohms, check resistance of BCM Blue connector terminal No. 19, ground circuit (Black/Light Green wire). If resistance is more than 15 ohms, repair open Black/Light Green wire. Perform TEST VER-1. If resistance is less than 15 ohms, replace BCM. Perform TEST VER-1.
