Test 93C - Inoperative Seat Belt Lamp

CAUTION: Always turn ignition off prior to disconnecting any module connector.
NOTE: For connector terminal identification, see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION  . For appropriate wiring diagram, see WIRING DIAGRAMS  section at the end of this article. Perform TEST VER-1B after each repair.
  1. Disconnect seat belt switch connector, located under driver's seat. Using scan tool, read seat belt switch status. If scan tool does not display SEAT BELT CLOSED, replace left front seat belt switch. If scan tool displays SEAT BELT CLOSED, go to next step.
  2. Disconnect Body Control Module (BCM) Blue connector. BCM is located behind left side knee panel. Check and repair connections as necessary. If connections are okay, go to next step.
  3. Using scan tool in ohmmeter mode, check resistance of BCM Blue connector terminal No. 14 (Light Green/Red wire). If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair short to ground in Light Green/Red wire. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, replace BCM.
  4. Unfasten left front seat belt. If scan tool displays SEAT BELT CLOSED, replace instrument cluster. If scan tool does not display SEAT BELT CLOSED, go to next step.
  5. Disconnect seat belt switch connector. Check, clean and repair connections as needed. Connect a jumper wire between seat belt switch connector terminal No. 1 (Light Green/Red wire) and No. 2 (Black/Orange wire). If scan tool displays SEAT BELT CLOSED, replace left front seat belt switch. If scan tool does not display SEAT BELT CLOSED, go to next step.
  6. Disconnect jumper wire from seat belt switch connector terminal No. 2 (Black/Orange wire). Connect jumper wire between seat belt switch connector terminal No. 1 (Light Green/Red wire) and chassis ground. If scan tool displays SEAT BELT CLOSED, repair Black/Orange wire for open to ground. If scan tool does not display SEAT BELT CLOSED, go to next step.
  7. Disconnect jumper wire. Access BCM, located behind left side knee panel. With BCM connectors connected, connect jumper wire between BCM Blue connector terminal No. 13 (Light Green/Red wire) and chassis ground. If scan tool displays SEAT BELT CLOSED, repair open Light Green/Red wire. If scan tool does not display SEAT BELT CLOSED, replace BCM.
