Test 93A - Inoperative Seat Belt Lamp

CAUTION: Always turn ignition off prior to disconnecting or connecting any module connector.
NOTE: For connector terminal identification, see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION  . For appropriate wiring diagram, see WIRING DIAGRAMS  section at the end of this article. Perform TEST VER-1B after each repair.
  1. Ensure left front seat belt is unfastened. Using scan tool, read seat belt switch status. If scan tool does not display SEAT BELT CLOSED, go to TEST 93B. If scan tool displays SEAT BELT CLOSED, go to next step.
  2. Fasten left front seat belt. If scan tool does not display SEAT BELT OPEN, go to TEST 93C. If scan tool displays SEAT BELT OPEN, go to next step.
  3. Using scan tool, actuate seat belt warning lamp test. If seat belt warning lamp flashes, seat belt warning lamp circuit is okay. If seat belt warning lamp does not flash, go to next step.
  4. Turn ignition off. Disconnect Body Control Module (BCM) Blue connector. BCM is located behind left side knee panel. Check, clean and repair connections as needed. If connections are okay, go to next step.
  5. Using scan tool in voltmeter mode, check voltage on BCM Blue connector terminal No. 23 (Dark Blue/Red wire). If voltage is more than 10 volts, replace BCM. If voltage is less than 10 volts, go to next step.
  6. Turn ignition off. Disconnect information center connector. Information center connector is located behind instrument cluster. Turn ignition on. Check voltage on information center connector terminal No. 9 (Dark Blue/Yellow wire). If voltage is less than 10 volts, repair open Dark Blue/Yellow wire. If voltage is more than 10 volts, go to next step.
  7. Inspect seat belt warning lamp bulb and socket. Replace seat belt warning lamp bulb or repair socket as necessary. If bulb and socket are okay, repair open Dark Blue/Red wire.
