Test 91B - Poor Sound Quality From All Speakers

CAUTION: Always turn ignition off prior to disconnecting any module connector.
NOTE: For connector terminal identification, see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION  . For appropriate wiring diagram, see WIRING DIAGRAMS  section at the end of this article. Perform TEST VER-1B after each repair.
NOTE: Radio must remain on during this test.
  1. Remove speaker power relay (first relay from left, bottom row) from micro relay center, located behind center console. Go to next step.
  2. Ensure scan tool is still backprobing radio Black connector terminal No. 1 (Dark Green/Red wire). If voltage is more than 10 volts, replace speaker power relay. If voltage is less than 10 volts, go to next step.
  3. Disconnect radio Black connector. With scan tool still connected, switch scan tool to ohmmeter mode. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair short to ground in Dark Green/Red wire. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, replace radio.
