Test 4A - Chime Operates With Seat Belt Buckled

CAUTION:
Always turn ignition off prior to disconnecting or connecting any module connector.
NOTE:

section at the end of this article. Perform TEST VER-1B after each repair.
- Turn ignition off. Ensure driver's seat belt is buckled and left front door is closed. Turn ignition on, engine off. If chime does not sound, system is okay at this time. If chime sounds, go to next step.
- Using scan tool, read seat belt switch status. If scan tool does not display SEAT BELT CLOSED, replace Body Control Module (BCM). If scan tool displays SEAT BELT CLOSED, go to next step.
- Disconnect seat belt switch connector. Seat belt switch is located under driver's seat. Using scan tool, read seat belt switch status. If scan tool does not display SEAT BELT CLOSED, replace seat belt switch. If scan tool displays SEAT BELT CLOSED, go to next step.
- Disconnect BCM Blue connector. BCM is located behind left side knee panel. Check condition of connector, and clean or repair connector as necessary. If connector is okay, go to next step.
- Using scan tool in ohmmeter mode, check resistance of BCM Blue connector terminal No. 14 (Light Green/Red wire). If resistance is more than 5 ohms, replace BCM. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair short to ground in Light Green/Red wire.
