Test 40A - Shorted Park Lamp Power Supply

CAUTION: Always turn ignition off prior to disconnecting or connecting any module connector.
NOTE: For connector terminal identification, see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION  . For appropriate wiring diagram, see WIRING DIAGRAMS  section at the end of this article. Perform TEST VER-1B after each repair.
  1. Turn ignition off. remove park lamp relay. Using scan tool in ohmmeter mode, check resistance of park lamp relay connector terminal No. 36 (Pink/Red wire) or No. 39 (Pink/Red wire). If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair short to ground in Pink/Red wire. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, go to next step.
  2. Using an external ohmmeter, check resistance between park lamp relay terminals. See Figure . If resistance is less than 10 ohms, replace park lamp relay and fuse No. 2. If resistance is more than 10 ohms, go to next step.
  3. Replace fuse No. 2. Reinstall park lamp relay. Ensure park lamp switch is on. Remove and inspect fuse No. 2. If fuse is open, repair short to ground in Black/Yellow wire and replace fuse No. 2. If fuse is okay, repair is complete.
