Test 39A - Park Lamp Operation

CAUTION: Always turn ignition off prior to disconnecting or connecting any module connector.
NOTE: For connector terminal identification, see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION  . For appropriate wiring diagram, see WIRING DIAGRAMS  section at the end of this article. Perform TEST VER-1B after each repair.
  1. Remove and inspect fuse No. 2 from fuse block. If fuse is open, go to TEST 40A. If fuse is okay, go to next step.
  2. Using scan tool in voltmeter mode, check voltage on fuse No. 2 connector (Red/Orange wire). If voltage is more than 10 volts, go to next step. If voltage is less than 10 volts, repair open Red/Orange wire.
  3. Reinstall fuse No. 2. Remove park lamp relay. Gain access to back of relay center. Using scan tool in voltmeter mode, check voltage on park lamp relay connector terminal No. 36 (Pink/Red wire). If voltage is less than 10 volts, repair open Pink/Red wire. If voltage is more than 10 volts, go to next step.
  4. Check voltage on park lamp relay connector terminal No. 39 (Pink/Red wire). If voltage is less than 10 volts, repair open Pink/Red wire. If voltage is more than 10 volts, go to next step.
  5. Connect a jumper wire between park lamp relay connector terminals No. 36 (Pink/Red wire) and No. 40 (Black/Yellow wire). If park lamps do not light, repair open Pink/Red wire. If park lamps light, go to next step.
  6. Using an external ohmmeter, check resistance between park lamp relay terminals. See Fig 1 . If resistance is not 35-65 ohms, rep lace park lamp relay. If resistance is 35-65 ohms, go to next step.
  7. Reinstall park lamp relay. Disconnect left pod switch Blue connector. Using scan tool in voltmeter mode, check voltage on left pod switch Blue connector terminal No. 4 (Brown/Orange wire). If voltage is less than 10 volts, repair open Brown/Orange wire. If voltage is more than 10 volts, go to next step.
  8. Connect a jumper wire between chassis ground and left pod switch connector terminal No. 4 (Brown/Orange wire). If park lamps light, replace left pod switch. If park lamps do not light, replace park lamp relay.
