Test 28A - Open Side Door Ajar Circuit

CAUTION:
Always turn ignition off prior to disconnecting or connecting any module connector.
NOTE:

section at the end of this article. Perform TEST VER-1B after each repair.
- Disconnect side door ajar switch connector. Check condition of connector. Clean or repair connector as necessary. Go to next step.
- Connect a jumper wire between side door ajar switch connector terminal No. 1 (Tan/Yellow wire) and chassis ground. Using scan tool, read side door ajar switch status. If scan tool does not display SIDE DR AJAR CLOSED, go to step 4). If scan tool displays SIDE DR AJAR CLOSED, go to next step.
- Disconnect jumper wire. Connect jumper wire between side door ajar switch connector terminals No. 1 (Tan/Yellow wire) and No. 3 (Black wire). If scan tool does not display SIDE DR AJAR CLOSED, repair open Black wire. If scan tool displays SIDE DR AJAR CLOSED, replace side door ajar switch.
- Disconnect jumper wire. Gain access to Body Control Module (BCM), located behind left side knee panel. Check condition of connector, and clean or repair connector as necessary. If connector is okay, go to next step.
- Connect a jumper wire between BCM Natural connector terminal No. 14 (Tan/Yellow wire) and chassis ground. If scan tool displays SIDE DR AJAR CLOSED, repair open in Tan/Yellow wire. If scan tool does not display SIDE DR AJAR CLOSED, replace BCM.
