Installation (Except 2.5L)

  1. Install generator, and tighten bolts to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS table. Position drive belt over all pulleys except idler pulley, located between generator and A/C compressor.
  2. Place socket wrench on automatic tensioner pulley bolt. Rotate socket wrench clockwise. Route belt over idler pulley. Allow tensioner to rotate back into place. Remove wrench. Ensure belt is properly seated on all pulleys.
  3. Check belt indexing marks. Tensioner and tensioner housing have an indexing arrow and an index mark, respectively. If a new belt is used, arrow must be within 1/8 inch (3 mm) of index mark. Belt is considered new if it has been in used less than 15 minutes. Reconnect negative battery cable.
