Test TC-10A - Trans Overdrive Solenoid Circuit

- Using scan tool, erase DTCs and actuate overdrive solenoid.Wait 10 seconds. Using scan tool, read DTCs. If OVERDRIVE SOLENOID CONTROL CIRCUIT DTC returns, go to step 4). If OVERDRIVE SOLENOID CONTROL CIRCUIT DTC does not return, go to next step.
- Wiggle wiring harness between transmission connector and PCM with actuator test still running. Using scan tool, read DTCs. If OVERDRIVE SOLENOID CONTROL CIRCUIT DTC returns, go to step 4).
- If OVERDRIVE SOLENOID CONTROL CIRCUIT DTC does not return, condition required to set DTC is not present at this time. TRANS OVERDRIVE SOLENOID CIRCUIT DTC is set if solenoid control wire is not in its proper state when monitored by PCM (i.e., circuit voltage is low when solenoid should be off, or high when solenoid should be on). Possible causes are: open or shorted overdrive control circuit wire, open or shorted overdrive solenoid coil, or open 12-volt feed to overdrive solenoid. See INACTIVE DTC CONDITION . Test is complete. Perform TEST VER-1.
- Disconnect overdrive solenoid connector on transmission. Using scan tool in voltmeter mode, check voltage on overdrive solenoid connector, ignition feed circuit (Light Green/Black wire). If voltage is 10 volts or less, repair open Light Green/Black wire. Perform TEST VER-1.
- If voltage is more than 10 volts, turn ignition off. Disconnect Powertrain Control Module (PCM) connector. Using scan tool in ohmmeter mode, check resistance of PCM connector terminal No. 55, overdrive solenoid control circuit (Brown wire). If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair short to ground in Brown wire. Perform TEST VER-1.
- If resistance is 5 ohms or more, use an external ohmmeter to check resistance of overdrive solenoid control circuit (Brown wire). If resistance is 5 ohms or more, repair open Brown wire. Perform TEST VER-1.
- If resistance is less than 5 ohms, reconnect overdrive solenoid connector. Turn ignition on. Using scan tool in voltmeter mode, check voltage on PCM connector terminal No. 55, overdrive solenoid control circuit (Brown wire). If voltage is more than 10 volts, replace PCM. Perform TEST VER-1. If voltage is 10 volts or less, replace overdrive solenoid in transmission. Perform TEST VER-1.
