Test NTC-5A - Checking Fuel Heater

NOTE:
Test applies only if vehicle symptom is runs rich, hard to start, does not rev-up, or misses under load.
- Turn ignition on. Disconnect fuel heater connector. Using scan tool in voltmeter mode, check voltage on fuel heater connector 12-volt feed circuit (Red/Black wire). If voltage is 7 volts or less, repair open Red/Black wire. Perform TEST VER-1. If voltage is more than 7 volts, use scan tool in ohmmeter mode to check resistance on fuel heater connector ground circuit (Black/Tan wire).
- If resistance is 5 ohms or more, repair open Black/Tan wire. Perform TEST VER-1. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, check resistance across fuel heater terminals using an external ohmmeter. If resistance is not 2.4-3.1 ohms, replace fuel heater. Perform TEST VER-1. If resistance is 2.4-3.1 ohms, fuel heater is operating normally. Test is complete.
