Test NTC-3B - Checking Air Intake Heater No. 1

Place scan tool in voltmeter mode. Check for voltage at both battery feed circuits (Black 6-gauge wires) on air intake heater relay No. 1. If voltage is not more than 10 volts at either wire, repair open Black wire between heater relay and battery. Perform TEST VER-1. If voltage is more than 10 volts at each wire, go to next step.
Using scan tool, actuate air intake heater relay No. 1. Using scan tool in voltmeter mode, check voltage on both Black 6-gauge wires at heater block. If voltage is not more than 10 volts at either wire, repair open circuit between air intake heater relay No. 1 and heater block. Perform TEST VER-1. If voltage is more than 10 volts at each wire, turn ignition off.
Using scan tool in ohmmeter mode, check resistance of air intake heater ground circuit (Black wire). If resistance is 5 ohms or more, repair open Black wire. Perform TEST VER-1. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, replace air intake heater. Perform TEST VER-1.
