Test NS-1C - Repairing No Crank Condition

- If starter motor does not crank, go to step 3). If starter motor cranks, go to next step (A/T models) or replace starter (M/T models). Perform TEST VER-1A.
- Using scan tool in ohmmeter mode, check resistance of starter relay connector Black/White wire. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, replace starter. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair open Black/White wire. Perform TEST VER-1A.
- Disconnect jumper wire. Disconnect starter relay Brown wire from starter solenoid. Using an external ohmmeter, check resistance of Brown wire between starter relay connector and starter solenoid. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair open Brown wire. Perform TEST VER-1A. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, reinstall starter relay.
- Check battery cables for high resistance. If either battery circuit has a voltage drop of more than .2 volt, repair battery circuit for high resistance. Perform TEST VER-1A. If voltage drop for each battery circuit is less than .2 volt, go to next step.
- If starter solenoid clicked when jumper wire was connected in step 4) of TEST NS-1B, repair starter for a mechanical failure. Perform TEST VER-1A. If starter solenoid did not click when jumper wire was connected in step 4) of TEST NS-1B, replace starter solenoid. Perform TEST VER-1A.
