Test NTC-13A - Checking Evaporative Emission System

- Start engine. Allow engine to reach operating temperature. Inspect vacuum line from Evaporative (EVAP) emission solenoid to throttle body for leaks or restrictions. Repair vacuum line as necessary. Perform TEST VER-2.
- If vacuum line is okay, inspect vacuum line from EVAP solenoid to EVAP canister for leaks or restrictions. Repair vacuum line as necessary. Perform TEST VER-2.
- If vacuum line is okay, disconnect vacuum line from EVAP canister at EVAP solenoid. Using scan tool, actuate EVAP solenoid. If EVAP solenoid is not allowing vacuum to cycle through, replace EVAP solenoid. Perform TEST VER-2. If EVAP solenoid is allowing vacuum to cycle through, go to next step.CAUTION: DO NOT use more than 5 psi (.3 kg/cm2 ) in following step.
- Turn ignition off. Attempt to blow air through vacuum line to EVAP canister. If air passes through, EVAP solenoid and hoses are okay, Test passed.
- If air does not pass through, disconnect vacuum hose at EVAP canister. Attempt to blow air through vacuum line. If air passes through, replace EVAP canister. Perform TEST VER-2. If air does not pass through. replace vacuum line. Perform TEST VER-2.
