Test TC-29A - Injector #6 Control Circuit
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 1995 Dodge Ram Wagon, 1995 Dodge Ram Van, 1995 Dodge Pickup, and 1995 Dodge Cab & Chassis. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
NOTE:
For circuit and connector terminal identification, see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION
. For wiring diagram, see WIRING DIAGRAMS
section at the end of this article.
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect injector No. 6 connector. Using an external ohmmeter, check resistance between injector terminals. If resistance is not 10-16 ohms, replace injector. Perform TEST VER-2. If resistance is 10-16 ohms, turn ignition on.
- Using scan tool, actuate injector No. 6. Using scan tool in voltmeter mode, check voltage on injector No. 6 connector, Auto Shutdown (ASD) output circuit (Dark Green/Orange wire). If voltage is less than 10 volts, repair open Dark Green/Orange wire or Dark Green/Black wire. Perform TEST VER-2. If voltage is more than 10 volts, turn ignition off.
- Disconnect Powertrain Control Module (PCM) connector. Using an external ohmmeter, check resistance of injector No. 6 driver circuit (Light Green/Black wire on AB body; Brown/Dark Blue wire on BR body) between injector connector (harness side) and PCM connector terminal No. 58. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair open Light Green/Black wire, Brown/Dark Blue wire or Brown/Yellow wire. Perform TEST VER-2.
- If resistance is less than 5 ohms, use scan tool in ohmmeter mode to check resistance of PCM terminal No. 58 (Light Green/Black wire on AB body; Brown/Dark Blue wire on BR Body). If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair short to ground in Light Green/Black wire, Brown/Dark Blue wire or Brown/Yellow wire. Perform TEST VER-2. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, replace PCM. Perform TEST VER-2.
