Test NTC-7D - Checking O2S Switching (5.9L Hd)

NOTE:
BR body (heavy duty engine) is equipped with dual O2S. Scan tool displays dual O2S as LT O2S and RT O2S.
- Allow engine to idle. Inspect engine for vacuum leaks. Repair vacuum leaks as necessary. Perform TEST VER-2. If no vacuum leaks exist, read both left and right O2S signal voltages using scan tool.
- If both voltages are more than 0.1 volt, go to step 5). If either voltage is less than 0.1 volt, turn ignition off. Disconnect failed O2S connector(s). Disconnect Powertrain Control Module (PCM) connector.
- Using scan tool in ohmmeter mode, check resistance of failed O2S connector(s) (harness side), signal circuit (Black/Dark Green wire (right O2S) on BR body or Tan/White wire (left O2S) on BR body).
- If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair short to ground in Black/Dark Green wire or Tan/White wire. Perform TEST VER-2. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, replace failed O2S. Perform TEST VER-2.
- Turn engine off. Replace failed O2S. Turn ignition on. Using scan tool, reset adaptive fuel memory. Start engine. Allow engine to reach normal operating temperature.
- Using scan tool, read both left and right O2S. If both O2S states are switching, O2S is working properly. Repair is complete. Perform TEST VER-2. If either O2S state is not switching, go to TEST NTC-16A.
