Test NS-7D - Inspecting Idle Air Control Motor Operation

  1. Turn ignition off. Disconnect and inspect Powertrain Control Module (PCM) connector for damaged, pushed-out or miswired terminals. Repair as necessary. Perform TEST VER-1.
  2. If connector is okay, use an external ohmmeter to check resistance of IAC No. 4 driver circuit (Violet/Black wire) between PCM connector terminal No. 59 and Idle Air Control (IAC) motor connector. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair open in Violet/Black wire. Perform TEST VER-1.
  3. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, turn ignition off. Reconnect PCM connector. Connect IAC motor connector to a known functional IAC motor. Turn ignition on. Using scan tool, actuate IAC motor. If IAC motor pintle moves in and out, replace IAC motor. Perform TEST VER-1. If IAC motor pintle does not move in and out, replace PCM. Perform TEST VER-1.
