Using scan tool in voltmeter mode, check voltage on MAP sensor connector, 5-volt power supply circuit (Violet/White wire). If voltage is less than 4.5 volts, repair open in Violet/White wire. Perform TEST VER-1.
- If voltage is more than 4.5 volts, reconnect MAP sensor connector. Check spark plug cables for proper placement. Reinstall spark plug cables as necessary. Perform TEST VER-1. If spark plug cable placement is okay, turn ignition off. Check valve timing. Adjust valve timing as necessary. Perform TEST VER-1.
- If valve timing is within specification, check engine compression. Repair engine compression as necessary. Perform TEST VER-1. If engine compression is within specification, replace MAP sensor. Perform TEST VER-1.
