Test NTC-15A - Checking Minimum Idle Air Flow

  1. Turn ignition off. Remove air cleaner. Disconnect PCV valve hose from vacuum nipple. Install Vacuum Fitting (6714) to intake manifold PCV nipple. Disconnect 3/16" evaporative emission hose from either side of throttle body. Cap 3/16" hose nipple on throttle body. Start engine. Allow engine to reach normal operating temperature of more than 180°F (82°C).
  2. Using scan tool, actuate minimum idle airflow. Wait for system to stabilize. If engine speed is 500-900 RPM, minimum airflow is normal. Test is complete. If engine speed is not 500-900 RPM, go to next step.
  3. Turn engine off. Using an approved cleaner, clean throttle body. Start engine. Using scan tool, actuate minimum airflow. If engine speed is 500-900 RPM, minimum airflow is normal. Test is complete. Perform TEST VER-2. If engine speed is not 500-900 RPM, replace throttle body. Perform TEST VER-2.
