Test NS-9B - Repairing No Crank Condition

- Disconnect starter relay. Using scan tool in ohmmeter mode, check resistance on starter relay connector, ground circuit Brown/Orange wire on AB and BR bodies; Brown/Yellow wire on AN body). If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair open Brown/Orange, Brown/Yellow wire or Black/White wire. Perform TEST VER-1.
- If resistance is less than 5 ohms, put scan tool in voltmeter mode. Using scan tool, check voltage on starter relay connector, fused battery voltage circuit (Black wire). If voltage is less than 10 volts, repair open Black wire or Red/White wire. Perform TEST VER-1.
- If voltage is more than 10 volts, use an external voltmeter to check voltage on starter relay connector, ignition switch output circuit (Yellow wire). Hold ignition switch in RUN position while observing voltmeter. If voltage is less than 10 volts, repair open Yellow wire or Yellow/Dark Blue wire. Perform TEST VER-1. If voltage is more than 10 volts, go to next step.WARNING: Engine may crank in following step. Keep away from moving engine parts.
- Ensure transmission is in Neutral and parking brake is set. Briefly connect a jumper wire between starter relay connector, fused battery voltage circuit (Black wire) and ignition switch output circuit (Yellow wire). Go to TEST NS-9C.
