Test NS-9A - Repairing No Crank Condition

- If vehicle is equipped with manual transmission, go to TEST NS-9B. If vehicle is equipped with automatic transmission, ensure transmission is in Park.
- Using scan tool, read park/neutral position switch sense. If park/neutral position switch senses PARK, go to next step. If park/neutral position switch does not sense PARK, repair open in park/neutral position switch ground circuit.
- Disconnect starter relay. Using scan tool in voltmeter mode, check voltage on starter relay connector, fused battery supply circuit (Black wire). If voltage is less than 10 volts, repair open in Black wire or Red/White wire. Perform TEST VER-1.
- If voltage is more than 10 volts, check voltage on starter relay connector, ignition switch output circuit (Yellow wire). Hold ignition switch in RUN position while observing voltmeter. If voltage is less than 10 volts, repair open Yellow wire or Yellow/Dark Blue wire. Perform TEST VER-1. If voltage is more than 10 volts, go to next step.WARNING: Engine may crank in following step. Keep away from moving engine parts.
- Ensure transmission is in Park and parking brake is set. Briefly connect a jumper wire between starter relay connector, fused battery voltage circuit (Black wire) and starter relay output circuit (Brown wire). Go to TEST NS-9C.
