Test NS-6A - Correcting No Response Condition

- If engine starts, go to TEST NS-6B. If engine does not start, turn ignition off. Disconnect and inspect Throttle Position (TP) sensor connector. Repair as necessary. Perform TEST VER-1. If connector is okay, turn ignition on. Using scan tool in voltmeter mode, check voltage on TP sensor connector, 5-volt power supply circuit (Violet/White wire). If voltage is more than 6 volts, repair open in power ground circuits of Powertrain Control Module (PCM) connector terminals No. 11 and 12 (Black/Tan wires).
- If voltage is less than 4.4 volts, go to next step. If voltage is more than 4.4 but less than 6 volts, turn ignition off. Reconnect TP sensor connector. Disconnect and inspect Manifold Absolute Pressure (MAP) sensor connector. Repair as necessary. Perform TEST VER-1. If connector is okay, using scan tool, check voltage on MAP sensor connector, 5-volt power supply circuit (Violet/White wire). If voltage is more than 4.4 volts, go to TEST NS-6B. If voltage is less than 4.4 volts, replace TP sensor. Perform TEST VER-1.
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect and inspect Manifold Absolute Pressure (MAP) sensor connector. Repair as necessary. Perform TEST VER-1. If connector is okay, using scan tool, check voltage on TP sensor connector, 5-volt power supply circuit (Violet/White wire). If voltage is more than 4.4 volts, replace MAP sensor. Perform TEST VER-1.
- If voltage is less than 4.4 volts, turn ignition off. Disconnect and inspect Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) low pressure sensor connector. Repair as necessary. Perform TEST VER-1. If connector is okay, using scan tool, check voltage on TP sensor connector, 5-volt power supply circuit (Violet/White wire). If voltage is more than 4.4 volts, replace CNG low pressure sensor. Perform TEST VER-1.
- If voltage is less than 4.4 volts, turn ignition off. Disconnect and inspect Powertrain Control Module (PCM) connector. Repair as necessary. Perform TEST VER-1. If connector is okay, using scan tool in ohmmeter mode, check resistance of PCM connector terminal No. 6, 5-volt power supply circuit (Violet/White wire). If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair short to ground in Violet/White wire. Perform TEST VER-1.
- If resistance is more than 5 ohms, use an external ohmmeter to check resistance of PCM connector between terminals No. 4, sensor ground circuit (Black/Light Blue wire), and No. 6, 5-volt power supply circuit (Violet/White wire). If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair Violet/White wire for a short to Black/Light Blue wire. Perform TEST VER-1.
- If resistance is more than 5 ohms, turn ignition on. Using scan tool in voltmeter mode, check voltage on PCM connector terminal No. 9, ignition 12-volt feed circuit (Dark Blue/White wire). If voltage is less than 10 volts, repair open in Dark Blue wire, Dark Blue/White wire or Light Green/Black wire from PCM to ignition switch. Perform TEST VER-1.
- If voltage is more than 10 volts, check voltage on PCM connector terminal No. 3, battery positive (B+) circuit (Red White wire), using scan tool. If voltage is more than 10 volts, replace PCM. Perform TEST VER-1.
- If voltage is less than 10 volts, remove and inspect ENGINE fuse from Power Distribution Center (PDC). If fuse is blown, go to step 11). If fuse is okay, using scan tool, check voltage on PDC fuse connector, battery positive (B+) circuit (Red/White wire).
- If voltage is more than 10 volts, repair open Red wire or Red/White wire from PDC to PCM terminal No. 3. Perform TEST VER-1. If voltage is less than 10 volts, repair Red wire or Red/White wire from PDC to battery. Perform TEST VER-1.
- Turn ignition off. Remove and inspect Auto Shutdown (ASD) relay and high pressure fuel shutoff solenoid relay. Using scan tool in ohmmeter mode, check resistance of PCM connector terminal No. 3, battery positive (B+) circuit (Red/White wire). If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair short to ground in Red wire or Red/White wire. Perform TEST VER-1.
- If resistance is more than 5 ohms, disconnect and inspect Oxygen Sensor (O2S) connector. Repair as necessary. Perform TEST VER-1. If connector is okay, using scan tool, check resistance of White wire on O2S (component side), ASD relay output circuit (terminal No. 2). If resistance is more than 5 ohms, replace O2S. Perform TEST VER-1.
- If resistance is less than 5 ohms, check resistance of ASD relay connector, ASD relay output circuit (Dark Green/Orange wire), using scan tool. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to step 16).
- If resistance is more than 5 ohms, ensure O2S connector is still disconnected. Using scan tool, check resistance of high pressure fuel shutoff relay connector, fuel shutoff relay output circuit (Dark Green/Black wire). If resistance is more than 5 ohms, condition causing fusible link to short is not present at this time. Replace fusible link. Perform TEST VER-1.
- If resistance is less than 5 ohms, remove high pressure fuel shutoff solenoid connector. Using scan tool, check resistance of high pressure fuel shutoff solenoid relay connector, relay output circuit (Dark Green/Black wire). If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair short to ground in Dark Green/Black wire. Replace ENGINE fuse. Perform TEST VER-1. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, release fuel pressure. Replace high pressure fuel shutoff solenoid. Replace ENGINE fuse. Perform TEST VER-1.
- Disconnect ignition coil connector. Using scan tool, check resistance of ASD relay connector, ASD relay output circuit (Dark Green/Orange wire). If resistance is more than 5 ohms, replace ignition coil. Replace B+ fuse or ENGINE fuse. Perform TEST VER-1.
- If resistance is less than 5 ohms, turn ignition off. Disconnect alternator field connector from alternator. Using scan tool, check resistance of ASD relay connector, ASD relay output circuit (Dark Green/Orange wire). If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair short to ground in alternator. Replace B+ fuse or ENGINE fuse. Perform TEST VER-1.
- If resistance is less than 5 ohms, turn ignition off. Disconnect fuel injector No. 1 connector. Using scan tool, check resistance of ASD relay connector, ASD relay output circuit (Dark Green/Orange wire). If resistance is more than 5 ohms, release fuel pressure. Replace fuel injector No. 1. Replace B+ fuse or ENGINE fuse. Perform TEST VER-1.
- If resistance is less than 5 ohms, disconnect fuel injector No. 2 connector. Using scan tool, check resistance of ASD relay connector, ASD relay output circuit (Dark Green/Orange wire). If resistance is more than 5 ohms, release fuel pressure. Replace fuel injector No. 2. Replace B+ fuse or ENGINE fuse. Perform TEST VER-1.
- If resistance is less than 5 ohms, disconnect fuel injector No. 3 connector. Using scan tool, check resistance of ASD relay connector, ASD relay output circuit (Dark Green/Orange wire). If resistance is more than 5 ohms, release fuel pressure. Replace fuel injector No. 3. Replace B+ fuse or ENGINE fuse. Perform TEST VER-1.
- If resistance is less than 5 ohms, disconnect fuel injector No. 4 connector. Using scan tool, check resistance of ASD relay connector, ASD relay output circuit (Dark Green/Orange wire). If resistance is more than 5 ohms, release fuel pressure. Replace fuel injector No. 4. Replace B+ fuse or ENGINE fuse. Perform TEST VER-1.
- If resistance is less than 5 ohms, disconnect fuel injector No. 5 connector. Using scan tool, check resistance of ASD relay connector, ASD relay output circuit (Dark Green/Orange wire). If resistance is more than 5 ohms, release fuel pressure. Replace fuel injector No. 5. Replace B+ fuse or ENGINE fuse. Perform TEST VER-1.
- If resistance is less than 5 ohms, disconnect fuel injector No. 6 connector. Using scan tool, check resistance of ASD relay connector, ASD relay output circuit (Dark Green/Orange wire). If resistance is more than 5 ohms, release fuel pressure. Replace fuel injector No. 6. Replace B+ fuse or ENGINE fuse. Perform TEST VER-1.
- If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair short to ground in Dark Green/Orange wire. Perform TEST VER-1.
- Disconnect fuel injector No. 7 connector. Using scan tool, check resistance of ASD relay connector, ASD relay output circuit (Dark Green/Orange wire). If resistance is more than 5 ohms, release fuel pressure. Replace fuel injector No. 7. Replace B+ fuse. Perform TEST VER-1. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step.
- Disconnect fuel injector No. 8 connector. Using scan tool, check resistance of ASD relay connector, ASD relay output circuit (Dark Green/Orange wire). If resistance is more than 5 ohms, release fuel pressure. Replace fuel injector No. 8. Replace B+ fuse. Perform TEST VER-1. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair short to ground in Dark Green/Orange wire. Perform TEST VER-1.
