Test TC-7B - No Vehicle Speed Sensor Signal

  1. Using scan tool, read Electronic Automatic Transmission (EATX) DTCs. If any EATX DTCs (Codes 50-58) are present, repair transmission as required.
  2. If EATX DTCs are not present, turn ignition off. Disconnect Transmission Control Module (TCM) connector. Turn ignition on. Using scan tool in voltmeter mode, check voltage at TCM connector terminal No. 58 (White/Orange wire).
  3. If voltage is more than 4 volts, go to step 7). If voltage is less than 4 volts, turn ignition off. Disconnect Powertrain Control Module (PCM) connector. Inspect PCM connector and repair as required. Perform TEST VER-2. If PCM connector is okay, go to next step.
  4. Using an external ohmmeter, check resistance of White/Orange wire between PCM connector terminal No. 47 and TCM connector terminal No. 58.
  5. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair open White/Orange wire. Perform TEST VER-2. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, place scan tool in ohmmeter mode. Using scan tool, check resistance of PCM connector terminal No. 47 White/Orange wire.
  6. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair short to ground in White/Orange wire. Perform TEST VER-2. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, replace PCM. Perform TEST VER-2.
  7. Using scan tool, read vehicle speed MPH value. Connect one end of a jumper wire to TCM connector terminal No. 58 (White/Orange wire). While observing vehicle speed MPH display on scan tool, tap other end of jumper wire to ground. If scan tool displays more than 0 MPH, replace TCM. Perform TEST VER-2. If scan tool displays 0 MPH or less, turn ignition off.
  8. Disconnect PCM connector. Using an external ohmmeter, check resistance of White/Orange wire between PCM connector terminal No. 47 and TCM connector terminal No. 58.
  9. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, replace PCM. Perform TEST VER-2. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair open White/Orange wire. Perform TEST VER-2.
