Test NTC-13A - Checking Minimum Idle Airflow

  1. Turn ignition off. Disconnect PCV valve hose from PCV valve. Plug PCV hose end. Disconnect idle purge hose from engine vacuum harness "T". Install Vacuum Fitting (6457) to intake manifold idle purge hose. Start engine. Allow engine to reach normal operating temperature.
  2. If vehicle has less than 1000 miles on odometer, go to next step. If vehicle has more than 1000 miles on odometer, actuate minimum airflow using scan tool. Engine speed should be 560-950 RPM. If engine speed is within specification, minimum airflow is normal. Test is complete. If engine speed is not within specification, go to step 4).
  3. Using scan tool, actuate minimum airflow. Engine speed should be 610-950 RPM. If engine speed is within specification, minimum airflow is normal. Test is complete. If engine speed is not within specification, go to next step.
  4. Turn ignition off. Remove throttle body from engine. Clean throttle body bore and throttle blade. Install throttle body on engine. Go to step 1) and repeat minimum idle airflow test. After cleaning throttle body bore and throttle blade, if minimum idle speed is still not within specification, problem is not caused by throttle body. Go to TEST NTC-14A.
