Test TC-13B - Injector Control Circuit

NOTE: For circuit and connector terminal identification, see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION . For wiring diagrams, see WIRING DIAGRAM  section.
  1. Turn ignition off. Disconnect injector connector. Using an external ohmmeter, check injector resistance. If resistance is more than 3 ohms, go to step 7).
  2. If resistance is less than 3 ohms, move one ohmmeter lead from injector terminal to ground. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair injector circuit for short to ground. Short to ground has occurred in wires leading from connector on throttle body housing to injector or in injector windings. Repair injector wiring or replace injector as necessary. Perform TEST VER-2.
  3. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, turn ignition on. Using scan tool, actuate injector No. 1. Using scan tool, check voltage on injector connector Dark Green/Orange wire. If voltage is less than 10 volts, repair open Dark Green/Orange wire. Perform TEST VER-2.
  4. If voltage is more than 10 volts, turn ignition off. Disconnect PCM connector. sing an external ohmmeter, check resistance of White/Dark Blue wire between injector connector and PCM connector terminal No. 16.
  5. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair open in appropriate wire. Perform TEST VER-2. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, put scan tool in ohmmeter mode.
  6. Using scan tool, check resistance of PCM connector terminal No. 16 (White/Dark Blue wire). If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair short to ground in appropriate wire. Perform TEST VER-2. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, replace PCM. Perform TEST VER-2.
  7. Remove injector cap from top of injector. Inspect injector for damaged or pushed-out terminals. Repair as necessary. Perform TEST VER-2. If injector terminals are okay, using an external ohmmeter, check injector resistance.
  8. If resistance is more than 3 ohms, replace injector. Perform TEST VER-2. If resistance is less than 3 ohms, replace injector harness located between injector and throttle body connector. Perform TEST VER-2.
NOTE: Test procedures skip from TEST TC-13B to TEST TC-17A. No test procedures have been omitted.
