Test NTC-5A - Checking TP Sensor Calibration

  1. Turn engine off. Turn ignition on. Using scan tool, read Throttle Position (TP) sensor voltage. Ensure throttle is fully closed and against throttle stop.
  2. If voltage is not 1.5 volts or less with throttle closed, replace TP sensor. Perform TEST VER-2. If voltage is 1.5 volts or less with throttle closed, watch voltage while slowly opening throttle to wide open position. If voltage change is not smooth, replace TP sensor. Perform TEST VER-2. If voltage change is smooth, go to next step.
  3. If maximum voltage is not at least 3.4 volts at Wide Open Throttle (WOT), replace TP sensor. Perform TEST VER-2. If maximum voltage is at least 3.4 volts at WOT, TP sensor is functioning properly. Test is complete.
