CHECK ENGINE Light Diagnostic Mode

- With key inserted in ignition switch, cycle ignition switch to ON position 3 times. On third cycle, leave ignition switch in ON position. Record 2-digit diagnostic trouble code as displayed by flashing CHECK ENGINE light.
- For example, Code 34 is displayed as a series of 3 flashes in rapid succession, followed by a 4-second pause, then 4 flashes in rapid succession. After a slightly longer pause, other stored codes are displayed in numerical order.
- When CHECK ENGINE light begins to flash trouble codes, it cannot be stopped. If you lose count, it will be necessary to start over. Code 55 indicates end of trouble code display.
- Refer to TROUBLE CODES/MESSAGES to translate trouble code number to a system trouble code message (DRB display). Once trouble area is identified, refer to TEST SC-1A to diagnose problem.NOTE: If trouble code exists that is not related to speed control system, see See INTERMITTENTS section in appropriate G - TESTS W/ CODES article in ENGINE PERFORMANCE section:

NOTE:
While using DRB scan tester, if an error is made or technician is unaware of correct procedures, enter F1 (Help) or HOW TO USE DRB from various menus.
