Removal (5.9L Diesel & 8.0L)

  1. Before proceeding, follow service precautions. See SERVICE PRECAUTIONS. Disable air bag system. See DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEM.
  2. Impact sensors are mounted on left and right inner fender extensions, behind grille opening reinforcement. On left side, remove battery heatshield, battery and battery tray retaining nuts and bolts. Lift battery tray to gain access to cruise control actuator and disconnect actuator electrical connector. Lift battery tray enough to gain access to left side impact sensor.
  3. Remove impact sensor-to-front wheelhouse extension screws. Remove sensor. Disconnect impact sensor electrical connector without removing tape holding harness to connector.
