Removal & Installation: CLOCKSPRING: Installation

  1. Snap clockspring onto steering column. If clockspring centering adjustment is disturbed, adjust clockspring. See CLOCKSPRING CENTERING under ADJUSTMENTS before installing steering wheel. Connect clockspring wiring connectors. Install steering column covers and knee bolster.
  2. Install steering wheel. Ensure flats on steering wheel hub fit formations on inside of clockspring. Pull horn wire through small upper hole and clockspring and cruise control wires (if equipped) through larger bottom hole in steering wheel. See Fig 1 .

  3. Connect horn and cruise control wires (if equipped). Connect clockspring wire to air bag module. To ensure complete connector connection, latching arms must be visible on top of connector housing. DO NOT connect negative battery cable at this time. Perform system operation check to ensure system is functioning properly. See SYSTEM OPERATION CHECK.
