Impact Sensors
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 1995 Dodge Pickup and 1995 Dodge Cab & Chassis. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
Three impact sensors are used. Two impact sensors are located on radiator support behind grille opening reinforcement. On all models, ACM contains the third impact sensor, which is called the safing sensor. Impact sensors are inertia switches which complete an electrical circuit when a front-end collision creates sufficient "G" force. For air bag to deploy, safing sensor and at least one impact sensor must activate at same time.
