Removal (NV3500 & NV4500)

- Disconnect negative battery cable. Shift transmission to Neutral. Remove shift boot bezel screws and slide boot upward on shift lever extension. Remove shift tower and shift lever extension as assembly.
- Ensure isolator and plate assembly stay on transmission. Narrow side of plate faces driver side of transmission. Raise and support vehicle. Remove crankshaft position sensor. Remove skid plate (if equipped). Drain transmission fluid (if necessary).
- Place reference marks on drive shaft U-joints and differential flanges for reassembly reference. Remove drive shafts. Disconnect vehicle speed sensor harness connector. Disconnect harness from mounting clips on transmission. On 4WD models, disconnect transfer case shift linkage. Remove bolts securing transfer case to transmission. Remove transfer case.
- On all models, support engine with adjustable jack. Unbolt rear mount from crossmember. Unbolt crossmember from frame and remove. Remove necessary exhaust components. Remove clutch slave cylinder from clutch housing. Remove starter motor. Support transmission with appropriate jack. Remove all nuts and bolts attaching transmission to engine. Move transmission rearward and lower.
