Gauge Reads Hot When Engine Is Cold

  1. Turn ignition on. Remove connector from temperature gauge sending unit. If gauge reading goes down to 100 (COLD), replace externally shorted sending unit.
  2. If temperature gauge continues to read 260, check for short to ground in wiring circuit between sending unit and gauge. If circuit is okay, replace temperature gauge.
