Camshaft Position (CMP) Sensor

  1. Sensor is located in timing cover near left side of water pump. Connect lab type oscilloscope to sensor output wire at CMP sensor connector (Tan/Yellow wire).
  2. With CMP sensor connector connected, start or crank engine. The output voltage of a good CMP sensor should switch between about 5.0 volts to about 0.3 volt. See Fig 1 . Replace sensor as necessary.
