Hub & Drum Assembly: Installation

Install hub and drum assembly on axle shaft tube. Ensure that bearing and oil seal are properly positioned. Apply a light coat of lubricant to contact surfaces. Install washer, making sure to engage tang in keyway.

Install adjustment nut and adjust rear bearing while turning hub. See REAR WHEEL BEARING ADJUSTMENT PROCEDURE table. After completing adjustment, install lock tang on rear disc brake axle or key on rear drum axle. If equipped with rear disc brakes, bend lock tang against flat surface of adjustment nut. If equipped with rear drum brakes, insert key. On rear disc brakes, install outer lock nut. On rear drum brakes, install retaining ring. On all rear axles, install axle shaft and wheel assembly.

Step 1			50 Ft. Lbs. (68 N.m)
Step 2			Back Off Nut Until Loose And Tighten To 30-40 Ft. Lbs. (41-54 N.m)
Step 3			Back Off Nut 135-150 Degrees
Lock Nut			65 Ft. Lbs. (88 N.m)
With Rear Drum Brakes
Adjustment Nut
Step 1			50 Ft. Lbs. (68 N.m)
Step 2			Back Off Nut Until Loose
Step 3			Tighten Nut Finger Tight Until Inboard Side Of Nut Contacts Bearing
