Differential Case Reassembly
- Apply lubricant to all differential parts. Assemble new side gear thrust washers with side gears. Install side gear assembly in differential case. Ensure side gears are installed on same side as removed.
- Place pinion gears onto side gears so that holes in pinion gears are 180 degrees apart. Rotate pinion gears into place and verify that pinion gears line up with pinion shaft holes.
- Rotate pinion gears toward differential opening just enough to slide new pinion thrust washers into place. Align lock pin holes in case and pinion shaft. Install pinion shaft lock pin. Peen lock pin into place.
- Ensure that differential case and ring gear mating surfaces are clean and free of burrs. Thread 2 studs on opposite sides of ring gear. Press ring gear onto differential case, making sure to align ring gear bolt holes. Install and tighten NEW ring gear bolts in a crisscross pattern.
