Master Cylinder Push Rod

NOTE: On some models, production push rod is not adjustable. If production rod is reused, gauging is to check proper assembly. If adjustable service push rod is used to replace production rod, use procedure to set to correct rod length.
  1. Gauge push rod with booster holding 25 in. Hg (85 kPa) vacuum. The booster can be gauged without being installed on the vehicle by using either suitable vacuum source or the MAXIMUM vacuum available from the engine.
  2. Position Push Rod Height Gauge (J-37839) over piston rod. See Fig 1. if piston rod length does not fall between the maximum and minimum dimensions, use and adjustable service piston rod (with self-locking screw) to make adjustments.
