Blocked Evaporator Drain Tube

Under conditions of extreme humidity, some 1992-93 Caprice vehicles manufactured before VIN PR100383 may exhibit condensed water from the evaporator drain tube leaking into the passenger side front floor area. Airflow through engine compartment can allow a small amount of condensate water to work past the seal of the evaporator drain tube. Water then slowly drips or seeps into the passenger side front compartment, usually wetting carpet on the floor area, near transmission hump.

To correct this condition, check the evaporator drain tube for blockage and clear tube as necessary. Install 90-Degree Drain Tube (22542866) over existing tube, pointing it downward. This allows water to drain down, away from evaporator drain opening.
