"C" & "K" Series & "R" & "V" Series

  1. Disconnect batteries. Raise and support vehicle. Remove flywheel cover. Remove torque converter bolts (A/T). Disconnect exhaust pipes from manifolds. Remove starter, bellhousing bolts and engine mount through-bolts.
  2. Disconnect cylinder block heater wires. Remove wiring harness, automatic transmission cooler lines and front battery cable from clamp on oil pan. Disconnect fuel return and oil cooler lines from engine. Lower vehicle. Remove hood. Drain cooling system.
  3. Remove air cleaner. Disconnect alternator wires and clips. Disconnect injection pump wiring. Disconnect wiring from valve cover clips and glow plugs. Remove EGR/EPR solenoids, glow plug controller and temperature solenoid. Move harness aside. Disconnect engine-to-chassis ground strap.
  4. Remove upper fan shroud and fan. Remove power steering pump and reservoir and lay aside. Disconnect control cables from injection pump. Disconnect heater hose from engine. Disconnect radiator hoses. Remove radiator. Support transmission. Remove engine. To install, reverse removal procedure. Fill cooling system.
