Gauge Reading Is Inaccurate

  1. Disconnect fuel gauge sending unit wire. Connect Red lead of Gauge Tester (J 33431-B) to sending unit connector Pink wire. Connect other wire to ground. Adjust tester resistance dials to zero ohm, then to 90 ohms.
  2. Temperature gauge should read empty, then full. If gauge responds correctly, check fuel tank ground wire for high resistance and repair if necessary. If ground circuit resistance is not high, replace fuel tank sending unit.
