Removal (1993-94)
- Raise vehicle on a hoist.
- Disconnect the negative battery cable.
- Remove the fuel tank, support the rear axle.
- Remove the upper shackle bolt (7), nut (9) and flat washers (8). See Figure

- Loosen the lower shackle bolt (6) at the spring (13) and leave it attached.
- Lower the axle until there is enough clearance to remove the shackle bushing (12).
- Using a blunt punch, straighten out the bushing flange that comes through the inner frame.
- It is recommended that both shackle bushings be replaced while the fuel tank is out. Remove the shackle bushing using the Adapter (J 21058-14) and the Ball Joint Remover (J 9519-E). See SPECIAL TOOLS
