"P" Series With Transmission-Mounted Parking Brake

- Raise and support rear of vehicle. For preferred method of adjustment, perform steps 2) and 3). For alternate method of adjustment, perform step 4).
- Remove drive shaft. Install parking brake drum over first rivet section of brake shoes. Insert.010" (.25 mm) shims between both shoes and drum, spaced 140-180 degrees apart.
- Rotate adjuster screw until no clearance exists. Remove shims. Install drum and drive shaft. Drum should rotate freely with light drag.
- Rotate adjuster screw through hole in backing plate until brake drum just locks up. Back off adjuster screw until drum spins freely with light drag. Lower vehicle.
