Speedometer is an air-core mechanical type gauge unit that is driven by an encased cable which is driven by a gear system located inside transmission tailshaft housing. Some vehicle applications require use of gear ratio reduction boxes at transmission speedometer cable connection to obtain proper calibration for speedometer.
