Removal & Installation (Gear Driven Pump)
- Remove air cleaner. Cover air intake with Cover Set (J-29664) to prevent dirt from entering manifold. Remove vacuum hose from pump inlet. Disconnect speed sensor. Remove bolt and bracket holding drive assembly to engine block. Remove pump and drive assembly.
- To install, reverse removal procedure. Rotate pump so inlet tube faces front of engine. See Fig 1 . Pump should be at 20 degree angle. Tighten bracket bolt to 20 ft. lbs. (27 N.m).
NOTE:
DO NOT run engine without gear driven vacuum pump installed. Oil pump is powered by vacuum pump drive gear.
