1985---86
1. Disconnect battery ground cable.
2. Remove engine cover and the air cleaner assembly.
3. To remove right side valve cover, proceed as follows:
a. Disconnect air injection hoses from diverter valve.
b. Disconnect diverter valve bracket from intake manifold.
c. Remove engine and transmission oil filler tubes from alternator bracket.
d. Remove PCV valve, then disconnect air injection hoses from rear of right cylinder head and position aside.
e. Remove distributor cap and wires, then the valve cover attaching bolts and valve cover.
4. To remove left side valve cover, proceed as follows:
a. Disconnect vacuum pipe from carburetor.
b. Disconnect electrical harness from valve cover, then remove valve cover attaching bolts.
c. Disconnect detent and accelerator cables from carburetor.
d. Remove detent and accelerator cable bracket from intake manifold.
e. Remove valve cover.
5. Remove rocker arm nuts and balls, then the rocker arms and pushrods, Fig. 6.
