1985---86
1. Disconnect battery ground cable.
2. Remove engine cover and air cleaner, then drain cooling system.
3. Remove distributor, then the carburetor.
4. On models equipped with A/C, remove A/C compressor rear brace.
5. On all models, remove transmission and engine oil filler tubes from alternator bracket.
6. Disconnect A/C idler pulley, if equipped.
7. Unfasten alternator adjusting bracket and position aside.
8. Remove diverter valve bracket, then disconnect air injection hoses from diverter valve.
9. Remove intake manifold attaching bolts and the intake manifold.
10. Remove upper fan shroud, then the power steering pump, if equipped.
11. Remove air injection pump and bracket, then the fan and pulley.
12. Remove water pump, torsional damper and engine front cover.
13. Align timing marks, Fig. 9, then remove timing chain and camshaft gear.
14. Remove fuel pump, then disconnect engine and transmission cooler lines, as equipped.
15. Remove lower fan shroud, then disconnect brake master cylinder from power brake unit.
16. Remove valve lifters, then carefully remove camshaft using two 5/16 x 18 x 4 inch bolts installed in camshaft bolt holes.
17. Reverse procedure to install. When installing camshaft, align marks on camshaft and crankshaft sprockets, Fig. 9.
