Leaf Spring & Bushings: Installation

Install spring shackles. Lower bushings and spacer onto rear of spring, then attach mounting bolt and nut finger tight. Position upper spring spacer pad on spring.
Place front of spring into frame bracket and install mounting bolt and nut finger tight. Install rear upper shackle bushings and spacer onto frame. Attach shackles to frame by inserting mounting bolt and nut finger tight.
Install lower spring spacer pad and upper spring anchor plate. Position anchor plate "U" bolts and install mounting nuts. Tight "U" bolt mounting nuts in the proper sequence. See Fig 1 .
Install all 4 mounting nuts to uniform engagement on "U" bolts to retain and position anchor plate in the design position (perpendicular to axis of "U" bolts). Tighten nuts in positions Nos. 1 and 3 to 10-25 ft. lbs. (14-34 N.m), then tighten all mounting nuts to 150 ft. lbs. (203 N.m) in sequence of 2-4-1-3.

Tighten front spring eye bolt and nut and rear shackle mounting bolts and nuts. Lower adjustable jack stand and remove. Lower vehicle.
