Removal (Warn Industries Manual Locking Hub)
- Detach 6 Allen head screws, then remove outer hub lock-knob cover assembly. Remove snap ring from end of axle shaft. Remove body assembly internal snap ring from hub. Remove body assembly. See Fig 1
.
NOTE: Do not disassemble outer hub lock-knob cover assembly. If disassembled, timing relationships will be difficult to restore. Replace unit as an assembly only.
- To remove hub/rotor assembly, detach wheel bearing outer lock nut and drag sleeve retainer washer. Using Wheel Bearing Nut Wrench (J-6893-D) and Torque Wrench Adapter (J-26878-A), remove wheel bearing inner adjusting nut. Remove the hub/rotor assembly and outer wheel bearing from spindle.
- Using a brass drift, remove inner wheel bearing and grease seal by tapping out with hammer. If bearing(s) and/or race(s) need replacement, drive old race out of hub. Insert brass drift, through hub, behind race. Using hammer, strike drift (alternating on each side of race) until race is removed or press out with arbor press.
