Warner Gear Automatic Hub

  1. Remove locking hub as described in this article. After lubricating wheel and spindle bearings, install hub/rotor assembly and outer wheel bearing onto spindle. Using Wheel Bearing Nut Wrench (J-6893-D) and Torque Wrench Adapter (J-23446 or J-6893-01 for K10/20 and J-26878-A for K30), tighten inner adjusting nut to 50 ft. lbs. (60 N.m) while rotating hub (by hand) to seat bearings.
  2. Back off inner adjusting nut, then retighten to 35 ft. lbs. (47 N.m) while hub is being rotated. Back off inner adjusting nut again, no more than 3/8 turn maximum. Assemble drag sleeve retainer washer, over axle shaft, against bearing adjusting nut. See Figure .
NOTE: When installing drag sleeve retainer washer, ensure tang (on inside diameter of washer) fits keyway properly and pin on inner nut passes through one hole in retainer washer.
  3. Assemble and tighten outer lock nut to 160-205 ft. lbs. (217-310 N.m). Check hub/rotor assembly end play with a dial indicator. Standard end play is .0010-.0100" (.025-.254 mm). If not to specification, repeat steps 1) through 3). If end play is within limits, install locking hub assembly.
