Cylinder Head: Installation

  1. Clean all gasket surfaces. Use gasket sealer on steel head gaskets. Do not use sealer on steel/asbestos head gaskets. Position gaskets on cylinder block and install heads.
  2. Coat threads of head bolts with sealing compound. Install and tighten head bolts to 65 ft. lbs (90 N.m). See Fig 1. To complete installation, reverse removal procedure. Lubricate valve tip, rocker arm pivot and push rod socket with Molykote prior to installation. Adjust valves.
